Previous and Present Service to APAI:
Active member of APAI since 2006. From 2009 through 2012, served as the APAI representative on the American Correctional Association’s (ACA) Commission on Accreditation for Corrections, and chaired a subcommittee tasked with revising the standards relative to releasing authorities. Through the Association, participated in various stages of NIC’s Parole Board Member/Chair training curriculum development. Regularly attends APAI’s annual Chairs’ meetings and Training Conferences, and has presented at workshops on Ohio’s experiences with implementing the 13 suggested supervision and release practice strategies, reducing the number of conditions, and participating in the structured decision-making research project. In July 2011, appointed as the Central Region Vice President on the Executive Committee (EC). Active participation as an EC member by attending monthly EC meetings, participating in the development and implementation of APAI’s business plan, participating in the Membership Committee and chairing the Standards Committee. The Standards Committee produced the current Essential Elements that were adopted by the EC and is working with Carleton University on recruiting participants for its project on the development of a Quality Assurance Index for releasing authorities.
